old castle: olavinlinna
It has been priviledge to have a friend who got a holiday villa at Lake Saimaa and at the same we have visited few times at Savonlinna and explored this old small city.
There lives about 32 000 people at Savonlinna. At the winter time it’s very quiet and peaceful city. At the summer time it’s more alive when there are many tourists enjoying the special vibes of this city.
There are famous Opera Festival at this old castle called Olavinlinna or St. Olof’s castle. It would be amazing one day to take part of this ceremony.
You can also see this 15th century castle by yourself or take a part of guided tours and they will tell you interesting things about this castle and old times.
Great place to spend beautiful summer day with a children.
There are lot of interesting corners to explore with kids.
You can even find a place where they can walk freely and consume their energy.
The castle was great place to spend beautiful summer day for us us an adults and for children as well. Children even managed to act decently a part of this about an hour tour guide that we bought. It was great to hear and see the place with a guide.
You can spend your time freely there as well, and there are space for children to explore this exciting place. Of course you need to be couses. The castle is on the island and there are water all around it and you can find little dangerous spots with energetic kids.
I think the most memorable experience for the kids was that they found a death bat around one small corner inside the castle.
It was fun day.
